Research Internships

2008 Fellowship of Computational and Systems Biology Summer Institute, Iowa State University

Computational and Systems Biology Summer Institute (CSBSI) at Iowa State University (ISU) is jointly supported by NIH and NSF, June 8 - August 1, 2008. Up to 12 fellowships will be awarded to interested and qualified students. No prior experience in bioinformatics is required. The detailed information is posted on http://www.bioinformatics.iastate.edu/CSBSI/.

2008 Bioinformatics Summer Internships at Cornell University

Be part of an exciting research project in the summer of 2008. The project is a large international effort to sequence the tomato genome. You can learn more about the project by visiting the SOL Genomics Network (www.sgn.cornell.edu) and clicking on the link for the International Tomato Project.

The position is an hourly paid position. Only US citizens are eligible as this is a requirement of the funding agency. To receive an application, contact Dr. Joyce Van Eck (jv27 AT cornell.edu). The application deadline is March 1, 2008. Download the detailed flyer here (pdf format).

GPBA Internships

Research internships are available at various neighboring biomedical institutions and pharma/biotechnology industry via GPBA, The Greater Philadelphia Bioinformatics Alliance. The details of the program and application process can be found here. Internship positions are for students in bioinformatics and computational biology concentrations. Each application will have to be sponsored by Dr. Aydin Tozeren, Center Director, before it can be processed by the GPBA Internship Committee.

This is a terrific opportunity for master-level or advanced undergraduate students wishing to do a bioinformatics internship with a research lab/company in the greater Philadelphia area, and provides $1000/month for up to six months with any additional support negotiated with the hiring lab.

Details can be found at:
http://www.gpba-bio.com/educ_iter_howtoapply.asp

GPBA policy is to fund only students from the greater Philadelphia area *unless* a qualified candidate is "underwritten" by some GPBA member laboratory  (i.e. that laboratory is committed to hiring them for the internship).
